Funding & Support at Home

Working out how to pay for care can feel daunting. It doesn’t need to be. Here’s a plain-English guide to the main funding pathways for in-home nursing and care across East Gippsland — and how we help you find the right one.

Funding should never be the reason a person misses out on care at home. We’ll happily talk you through your options at a free, no-obligation consultation — including the Australian Government’s Support at Home program, Home Care Packages, brokered care and self-management.

The main pathway

The Support at Home (SaH) program

Support at Home is the Australian Government’s program that helps older people live independently in their own homes for longer. It replaces Home Care Packages and brings ongoing in-home support together under a single, simpler framework.

After an assessment through My Aged Care, an older person is assigned a level of ongoing funding based on their assessed needs. That funding can be directed toward the kinds of support we provide — personal care, nursing, social support and dementia support.

You can begin the process at myagedcare.gov.au or by calling My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. Not sure where to start? We can help you make sense of it.

How Support at Home is structured

  • Ongoing classification levels — a series of funding levels matched to assessed need, from lower-level support through to higher-level, more intensive care.
  • Restorative Care Pathway — short-term support to help you regain independence after illness, injury or a hospital stay.
  • End-of-Life Pathway — additional support for people nearing the end of life who wish to remain at home.
  • Assistive technology & home modifications — funding toward equipment and changes that keep home safe.

Already had an assessment? Bring your outcome letter to your consultation and we’ll help you put it to work.

Your options

Ways to fund your care

Most people use one of these pathways — or a combination. We work with all of them.

Support at Home (SaH)

Government-funded ongoing support assigned after a My Aged Care assessment. Direct your funded hours toward our personal, nursing, social and dementia care.

Home Care Packages

If you currently hold a Home Care Package, your existing funds continue to support your care as arrangements transition to Support at Home. We’ll help you make the most of them.

Brokered care

We offer brokered services in partnership with accredited home care providers in Bairnsdale — so approved providers can call on our local team to deliver care on the ground.

Self-management & private

Prefer to manage your own package, or arrange care privately without government funding? We provide guidance on self-management options and transparent private arrangements.
